A wonderful person and mother

I met Mama when Ivy and I were still dating. Usually people are worried about meeting their significant other’s parents. I was nervous, but for no reason. Mama was welcoming when I met her and from then on she was always the same; kind, gentle, welcoming and caring. Before I married Ivy I would always hear people talking about how mean and awful a mother in law could be. This was never the case, she was always so wonderful to be around. Thank you Mama for welcoming me into your family and always being so kind to me. I will take care of Ivy everyday. I will miss our breakfast chats. We miss and love you. Thank you Mama.

Well done good and faithful servant…Addie

Rick & I became a member of the Domantay family in 1991 when I worked for AD Domantay & Associates. We have been in close contact ever since. Addie did our taxes for several years. It saddened us with her passing but we will always remember her friendly presence, her beautiful smile and her calm voice. She fulfilled well her vocation in life…the superwoman and all. God is pleased to welcome her now in His Presence. Rest in peace with God, Addie.

“My Wonderful Aunt”

My aunt was a woman who had smiles to brighten your days, who always made you feel good with her warm words of praise. And what’s more she knew what to do to make wishes come true. She was my aunt.
My aunt was someone who always had good stories to tell, but just as importantly, she knew how to be a good listener as well. She was patient and kind. She was no ordinary person.
And I am proud to tell the world that ADELAIDA DOMANTAY, was my aunt!!
We will miss you, Auntie! May you Rest In Peace!

Addie, we don’t have much to say except you will always have a special place in our hearts. I still have that native bag you gave me in 1987, also the year you asked me to be godmother to your twin daughters. I brought that bag with me when you and bony treated us like king and queen at Agua Caliente, on your kuya Tito’s bday, complete, hotel accommodation and concert/show. You remember the bag and jokingly said “is that where you’ll put all your winnings tonite? I said this is for kuya Tito’s snacks, and indeed I have $749.00 in my machine and you said, “kunin nio na” which i did🤑. May you Rest In Peace, Addie. I will miss our conversation in iMessage. And to our brother Bonnie and family, may we say, if there is emailing and imessaging in heaven, God will send you this message “your loss is my gain ;for today, Addie is among my angels in heaven whose task is writing your names on my golden stairs”. Bonnie and family, “sorrow is a fruit. God does not make it grow on limbs too weak to bear it and like a bird singing in the rain, let grateful memories survive in this time of sorrow.

We will miss you Addie. RIP

Adelaida is the most loyal friend I ever had. We have met the first day of school in grade one during the flag ceremony. We bonded so strongly from the very start, talked about not going to the first class under Miss Solis. We both made the decision to attend Mrs. Parlan’s class because according to her “she looked like a kind lady,” so we did even if Miss Solis asked us to transfer to hers. We giggled a lot and since then she was my partner in crime. At the home economics cooking class, she cooked the food we were assigned and just added my name to the list, she did my sewing projects and in high school she did the same, did the embroidery and crochet projects. She knew that I am not good at these but she wanted me to get a passing grade. She told me to try joining the ” beauty pageant” in junior high which in return I pushed her in senior and had the best time getting ready togefher. We had our hair and make up done in Dagupan, did fittings of our gowns and shoes. We visited each other in Manila when we went to university. We heard each other’s heartaches, the saddest part was losing my father and she was around even it was Christmas off. It was my turn to lend my shoulder when her mother died. Her old self came back and suddenly she told me she wants to get married. I was very happy for her. She was determined to have a family of her own. Even when I moved to Canada, she remained a very close friend a confidante and a big sister. ( she taught me how to use the”kotex”). One time I got stranded at her house during a big storm and she sent her dad to let my parents know, come to think of it, we were in grade three. She supplied me with sacks of squash when I had a pet pig. She was the ninang of my doll. Susie.
Her unending words of wisdom came pouring in when she learned my dreams and plans for the golden reunion did not pull through. She said ” let them be, if that’s what would make them happy. I know who you are.” She pushed me in whatever undertaking I did. Her words ” you can do it” was reassuring.
She was calm, collected, and beautiful. She deserved the love of a big family. I have a lot of memories to remember you, my beloved friend Addie.
I may have not told her very often but I believe she is beside me as I write boldly ” I LOVE YOU ADDIE. MAY ETERNAL REST BE GRANTED UNTO YOU. MAY OUR DEAR LORD EMBRACE YOU. UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.”

Memories of our youth…

Being classmates and friends in high school, I shared the joys of my youth with Addie. Even when we were already in Manila, I used to visit her in her Dorm at Gastambide St., back of University of the East where she was enrolled. I don’t know if the family knows that Addie can play the guitar. On summer vacations when we go home, we used to sit at the railroad tracks near their house. And together with another friend, Celia, we would sing in all abandon knowing that no one can hear but the vast fields surrounding us. Addie can play almost all songs of the Cascades, very popular at the time. Once in a while we would go to Dagupan City to eat Burger at JG’s, already a treat during our time. These are some of the simple things we did that brought immense happiness to our young life. Goodbye, Addie… Rest well in your permanent home prepared by the Lord…

Loving Sister In Law

Thank you ate Addie for being part of our lives. You are always the guiding light for your family, loving kuya Bonnie, my nieces and nephews unconditionally. We never realized that you were sick with cancer. We wished that we have talk and spend more time with you. Seeing you in our family gatherings, you always showed that nothing was wrong and have that delightful cheer in you. You are always loving, kind, and generous to all of us. Our life will never be the same without you. We will miss you and will remember you always and the happy memories we had. We love you! Rest in peace now.

To an exceptionally good friend,

Addie was incredibly supportive of me when I was a struggling artist in Dagupan, Pangasinan. She was very generous, friendly, palaging naka-smile. Every day, bago ako umuwi sa bahay namin, dadaan muna ako sa puwesta nila sa palengke at kami ay magchikahan. She never changed. She was a big help to me then. I do remember when she was crowned as Miss Senior Class 68, she was exceptionally beautiful. Also, when she got married, my two good friends, make-up artists, sila ang nag-ayos sa kanila. I was honored to be one of the wedding sponsors. Si Addie ang nag-send sa aking Facebook ng photo pero di ko na mahanap. It’s been a long, long time. Many years ago, umuwi ako sa Malasiqui. Tamang tama na nasa Malasiqui din siya. Tagal naming nagchikahan, reminiscing our high school days. She promised to visit me sa Club Mwah. But his eldest son ang dumating at sinabi na si Addie cannot come. Sayang, I wanted to show her na dahil sa pagsuporta niya at pag-encourage niya, nagawa ko ang Club Mwah show. Lagi rin kaming nagchat sa Facebook. Last chat namin, this coming December, uuwi silang lahat. Nabigla ako nang natanggap ko na wala na siya. I’m losing an exceptionally good friend, a treasured, kindhearted, Good Samaritan classmate. Rest in Peace. I’ll miss you, Addie.

Addie and I were close

Addie and I were close since elementary days but we lost touch when I migrated to USA. When I moved back to Malasiqui to work as Manager of the bank in Dagupan, everyday after office hour, I visited her in her store. We laughed together and eat our favorite “banana que” until it’s time to close the store. We never discuss any “political issues, nor her problems but just recall old time high school stuffs that gave us big laughs and smiles always. We recalled our college days where we hanged out in her dormitory and laughed together along with our former high school classmates. When she got married, we had a party, that ended just few hours before the ceremony in the church. She got me as “ninang” of her first born son…which I regret did not have chance to communicate due to work related reasons and occupied activities in churches I worked.
It’s so sad to know her untimely demise but rest assured that she will be in the hands of the Lord now . She will be at peace and enjoying eternal life with the angels in heaven!
Thanks Addie for those memories… just too sad that for some reasons, we both failed to rekindle our friendship….we both respected “SILENCE” in our hearts. Nini

Special Friend

A heartwarming message from a daughter to a mother who is loved by her family so much. I spent a day with Addie and Bonnie when I was in California in 2006. After dining out, she took me to her house where 9 cars were parked side by side, one for each member of the family. Unfortunately, we forgot to take photos. Never knew it was to be the last time I would see her…I will always treasure those memories…

I remembered Adelaida Macasieb as our candidate of our section (Pearl), then she won as Miss 4th year popularity (money) contest. Since Addie has garnered the highest votes in the competition over 1st, 2nd and 3rd years, she was crowned Miss AVC of 1968. We knew that Addie’s Parents were honorable businessmen, generous and God fearing, well to do family. Addie, we missed your friendly attitude, easy to get along with, we, your classmates believed to your genuine heart. We have treasured sweet memories with you, Addie! Now you are gone, our high school days remained with us. Our prayers for your eternal repose. Farewell forever!

We only separated when you enrolled at Agno Valley College me at Malasiqui Catholis School Somehow we lost the closeness and togetherness with our college life . Our closeness and friendship came back. And so happy when Our high school classmate Bonnie became your husband and was the godmother of your first born child Edelyn. Since then we see each other during your short balikbayan stay. I can still remember diring your last balikbayan that you wanted our mini reunion to be held in your house. To My Dearest Friend, Addie

Addie and I became closer when her family migrated to the US. We talked about the struggles in adjusting to life in the United States, bringing up kids, pursuing careers, and, most importantly, reconnecting with classmates here. With her, friendship is an open book. She was one of my best friends on whom I could trust my life without judging and tattle-telling behind my back. I felt real friendship, especially loyalty and kindness. She was a genuine friend and a remarkable human being.

I saw her firm determination with The Good Samaritans. She repeatedly told me no matter how few there were of us, not to give up. She kept reassuring me that we will be alright. Positive and funny, she was there whenever I needed support. Talking with her uplifted my spirit and made me more determined and focused.

Addie, we will miss you. I assure you that the hard work, commitment, camaraderie, and the projects that The Good Samaritans started will continue as long as we can. Thank you for your friendship, especially your loyalty and all the things you have done for The Good Samaritans and me. We will treasure our memories of you, and never will we forget you nor your good deeds. Have a peaceful journey. We will see you in the next life. I will sorely miss you, Addie!

A piece of my heart

Dear Addie, thank you for being a true, loyal, sincere and ever loving friend. We instantly bonded at the flag on the first day of grade one. The friendship flourished amazingly, nurtured by your sisterly instinct. You pushed me with your endless encouragement. You believed in me that I was scared to not to be able to deliver your expectations of me. We lived thru heartaches, pains and joys of life together. You remain in my heart and my memories of you are treasured forever. Rest in peace until me meet again, dear Addie.

To my loving Auntie Addie

I know from the time Mama left us in 1990, you take her place to let us feel that we are not alone and that a mother’s love will always be there for you to share. When you migrate in the US you never forget to tell us na “ Andito lng ako, Ibinilin kayo ni Mama mo sa akin” and as what we know mas hinigitan mo pa po un at extended hanggang sa aming mga anak. We are included in your plans😢
You always wanted me and Grace to be with you in US but choices did not give us chance to pursue. We will treasure all the guidance and advise you taught us. The support love and unending care to me and my kids will always be in our hearts..😭😭
It is hurtful to think that you are now gone😭😭😭. The smile you showed us is a selfless gesture for your love to us. Sorry if during those times of suffering we are not beside you😢😢
Now that your in the good hands of our ALMIGHTY FATHER may the light shine upon your soul and Rest in Peace🙏🏻🙏🏻
You are now with lolo Andring, lola Marina, auntie Linda and Mama in the life of eternity.
We love you so much, thank you for everything. Till we meet again😭😭😭🙏🏻

To my Dearest Auntie Addie

You always wanted me to go there…I now know why, you like to take care of me and ate Venus. But destiny didn’t permit me in going there, thus it doesn’t stop you from caring and helping me, in every decision I make in life you were there guiding me, supporting and advising whats good to do, I am sorry for the times I failed you and for my stubbornness.
I will remember you with your loving memories. I know in my heart you are in a better place now but surely I will miss your hi and how are you, your voice, our chat and your presence in our life. Don’t worry about us Auntie. This is what God wants. It’s so painful Auntie, but we need to let go and let God’s will be done but again surely we will not forget you 😭😭😭.
Thank you Auntie for the LOVE and CARE that you have given my whole family, i always say that my kids are so blessed and lucky having a thoughtful Lola in you.
Till we meet again Auntie Addie, I will look forward in seeing you again in the land of no days and time. It is consoling to know that you’re not in pain anymore. Thank You Mama

Dear Mama,
Everytime I went to Azuza I would be greeted by your warm smile, and everytime it made me so happy. Your cheery personality could brighten anybody’s day. When I said “I love you!” she would say “I love you more.” And I would say “That’s not possible!” Now, it seems more true than ever. I will miss you so much Mama, but I know you will be by my side. Through the dark hours and through the sunny days. You were there for me since I was a baby. It made me sad when you were in pain, but now you aren’t anymore. There are so many memories I have with you, some I don’t even remember! But I know that whenever I was with you I was happy and when I was sad you would use your love on me, and I wouldn’t be sad anymore. All the small conversations we had, I will miss. I wish we had more of those Mama. We will stay strong for you Mama, as you did for us. I love you Mama, more than you know, more than you can see. Thank you for everything Mama, all the gifts you’ve given me, the happiness you shared. Thank you Mama.
